Mesozoic Era Environment
In the beginning of the Triassic Period, the weather was cool and dry. At the time of the Triassic Period, there was a major landmass called Pangaea. If you are at a beach and it is a hot day, the land will warm up faster than the water, and the water will cool faster than the land. This is what happened during the Triassic Period. The rapid changes in temperature caused extreme weather patterns. During the Jurassic Period, there were inland seas. There were also forests of many different kinds of trees and moist, warm, tropical breezes. The water made the climate feel humid. The dry deserts grew plants and turned more green.During the Cretaceous Period, the humidity in the air increased. The humidity in the air increased because the sea levels rose. In the Early Cretaceous Period, the sea levels were about 100 to 200 metres (330 to 660 feet) higher than before. In the Late Cretaceous Period, the sea levels were about 200 to 250 metres (660 to 820 feet) higher than before. The climate began to cool in this era but at the end, the temperatures rose again.
